LIULI Crystal Baby Doll Figurine, A Great Wish
LIULI Crystal Art- LIULI Collection
Design Description:
One winter while walking through the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, Loretta H. Yang found her attention drawn to a shabbily dressed woman carrying a half-clothed young child. At her side was an even younger child sleeping on the cold hard steps of a bank. Her heart filled with deep compassion and sorrow. Upon returning home she created A Great Wish, a sculpture of a large hand cradling a sleeping baby. She believes it is the right of every child to know warmth. The artwork Artist edition is permanently collected by Bowers Museum and National Museum for Women in the Arts in the United States.
- Sound asleep, the infant rests in the cradle of a large comforting hand. The details in this design is testament to the artist’s intuition and skill.
- Color removed, liuli emanates a pure and ethereal light and conveys the idea that every life should be filled with warmth.
- A golden lotus imprinted on the base complements the sculpture resting upon it. Both lotus and hand cradle the sleeping infant. In Buddhism, the lotus is symbolic of purity and goodness, wisdom and compassion and a greater love.
A Great Wish (Special Edition)
After staring quietly,
All the waves of peace,
Meditate,
Let go without fight and hate.
Pâte-de-verre Technique
The pâte-de-verre technique that Liuli uses involves a complex twelve-step process per creation. Each step must be performed without error to prevent breakage, irregular air pockets or impurities. Pâte-de-verre, therefore, makes each piece of Liuli’s creations one of a kind.
Product Color
The work of art is colored by the addition of metallic oxide prior to the firing process. Because these colors are created under extreme heat during the manual process of pâte-de-verre, they will never fade and will not be the exact same as each other, nor as those seen in the product photos. That is the unique trait of pâte-de-verre, and the value behind collecting original Liuli creations.
