The design of Autumn Mountain is inspired by classic Chinese shan shui painting. The body of the pot is like the scroll upon which a pair of sparrow are represented in relief. The lid is like an auspicious cloud, featuring a signature liuli bead in true red. The sparrows on the body boast realistic feathers; combined with auspicious clouds and a liuli pearl, it is like the morning sun breaking through a thick morning fog, introducing the capacity for reverie to an otherwise quiet picture. In designing the piece, utmost attention was paid to sculptural accuracy and luminosity of glaze. Bone China aims for purity without banality, modesty without mediocrity, for the moment when the most difficult aspect becomes the centerpiece in the final product. |
