LIULI Celebrates Lunar New Year with South Coast Plaza
LIULI is pleased to share that, for the fifth consecutive year, we’ve been working with South Coast Plaza to honor this significant cultural holiday. LIULI exclusively designed Year of the Ox “Guardian of Celestial Dream” crystal sculpture to mark the year of strength and perseverance. The Ox forges ahead, an indefatigable warrior, strength and beauty in harmony. Cas using the pate de verre method, the liuli ox, muscular and sturdy, rises atop the mountain in a heroic stance. The liuli blown glass vessel underneath the ox is speckled with silver foil, an elegant celestial orb. The strength of the ox is borned from benevolence and dependability. It is the ultimate power of protection. |

Custom Design for South Coast Plaza For centuries, glowing lanterns lining streets have marked the most festive time of the year in the Far East. LIULI brings that age-old spirit to you now, the through the first collectible. |
||||
This is the first-ever crafted LIULI crystal lantern, created in lieu of 2020’s Lunar New Year for the North American market. Its rat zodiac and flowers are reminiscent of traditional Chinese papercut designs, casting the nostalgic warm amber light that fills streets on the Lunar New Year. The shape and grooves of the art piece are designed to radiate a splash of festive new year colors while hearkening back to the traditional aesthetics of Far East festivities during this season. Art piece collectible only through South Coast Plaza. |

YEAR OF THE PIG 2019 In Mandarin, pig is pronounced zhu which also sounds like the characters for “blessing” and “all”. This play on words is the inspiration behind this design. In traditional Eastern culture, the bowl is an everyday object with a beginning and an end. It symbolizes fulfillment and togetherness. |
||||
The star of this show is a pig frolicking among a dense tangle of leaves, flowers and two golden pumpkins presented in traditional paper-cut style. Flowers and fruit symbolize the inextinguishable force of life. The chopstick rest is designed as a pair of joined pumpkins; its vines and leaves form a repeating motif oft used in Eastern design. |
